Import Existing Schema
Existing schemas on a page can be imported to Milestone Schema Manager
Overview
If your website already has schema markup in place, you can seamlessly import it into Milestone Schema Manager. This allows you to manage, validate, and publish your existing schemas efficiently within the platform.
This guide walks you through the process of importing existing schema markup into Milestone Schema Manager.
Why Import Existing Schema?
Importing your existing schema into Milestone Schema Manager enables you to:
- Centralize schema management for easier updates and monitoring.
- Validate existing markup to ensure it's error-free and compliant with current standards.
- Leverage advanced features of the Schema Manager, such as performance tracking and automated updates.
Step-by-Step: Importing Existing Schema
When you open Schema Manager for a page that already has structured data deployed, it will be detected. You will be presented with the following message:
- Click on Yes to migrate the import schema to the editor
- Click on Skip to skip the migration step and start creating a new schema.
If you choose to import the existing schema, it will be added to your page in the Schema Editor. Here you can add additional schemas and make changes to the existing schema.
To see the imported schema, click on Skip & Start Tagging
Review the imported schema, tag / re-tag any new/existing properties as required.
Validate and publish. The Schema is now completely migrated to Milestone Schema Manager
Note: You will continue to get the import prompt unless you perform the Save/Validate action. The imported schema has values set as static. To do a group publish (after grouping similar pages together), please re-tag the property values of the seed page from the webpage (to link them with the underlying XPATH). This will ensure that the schema values in the child pages are relevant to the associated page and not simply a copy page of static values from the seed page.
