Event Calendar 2.0

The all-new Event Calendar section is designed to help you manage events for your properties from a single page.

Event Calendar – Published Events

The Published Events section shows all the events that are currently published on your website.

Total Events

At the top of this section you can see the total number of published events currently.

Published / Drafts

At the top left of this section you can use the ‘Published’ and ‘Drafts’ button to view published events and events that are stored in draft.

 

Search Bar

Use event names in the search bar at the top right to search for events in this section.

 

Settings

Use the gear icon to access the settings section.

Here you can perform the following settings changes:

  • Event Feeds: (Need Input)
  • Default View: You can choose the default view for this section. The events can be viewed in a list form or on a calendar.
  • Image Dimensions: You can select the width and height of the image for the events page.
  • Nearby Event Radius: Set how far from your business an event can be to count as ‘nearby’. This is calculated in miles.

More Actions

The ‘More Actions’ menu allows you to carry out three actions;

Bulk Upload Events

You can use the feature to upload multiple events to your website in one go.

Step 1: Click on ‘Bulk Upload Events’.

Step 2: Click on ‘Download it here’ to download the Bulk Upload Template.

Step 3: Open the template in Microsoft Excel.

Step 4: Input the data for the events.

Step 5: Upload the file in the upload section.

Step 6: Click on ‘Upload’.

Step 7: The events that are successfully uploaded and the ones that have failed will be displayed.

Failed Event Upload

If certain events failed to upload successfully, you can determine the reasons for failure by downloading the spreadsheet.

Step 1: Click on ‘Bulk Upload History’.

Step 2: In the ‘Actions’ column click on the download icon corresponding to the bulk event spreadsheet that did not successfully upload.

Step 3: In the downloaded spreadsheet the last column will display the ‘Error Message’ this will help you determine why the upload for that event failed.

Step 4: Make the changes and reupload the spreadsheet.

Bulk Upload History

The Bulk Upload History section shows you all the bulk upload operations you have carried out. You can use the download option in the actions column to download failed upload spreadsheets and edit them to upload them successfully.

Manage Categories

The Manage Categories section lets you select categories and even add new ones. Here’s how you can add categories for events.

Step 1: Click on ‘Manage Categories’.

Step 2: Click on ‘Add New Category’.

Step 3: Add a category name and click on the tick to save the category.

Step 4: Click on ‘Save’.

Filters

The Filters option can be used to filter events by Category, Radius, and the Created On date.

Step 1: Click on ‘Filters’.

Step 2: Select the filters you want to use and click on ‘Apply’.

The Filters option will show you the number of filters active on your page.

List View and Calendar View

You can choose to view your events as a list or on a calendar by using the list and calendar icons at the top right.

List View

The List View has a number of functions that are useful for managing events and performing bulk operations.

Bulk Actions

When you select multiple events, the ‘Bulk Actions’ options appear. You can use this option to export the event data to a spreadsheet or delete the events.

Calendar View

The Calendar View gives you a view of the events on a calendar. Clicking on an event in this view shows you the event name, the date and time of the event, and a short description of the event under ‘About this Event’.

Editing Options

There are three editing options here;

  • Delete
  • Copy URL
  • Edit Event

Published Event List

The Published Events list displays;

  • Events: The name of the event.
  • Date: The date on which the event was created.
  • Category: The event categories.
  • Location: The distance in miles from the business location.

Actions

Using the options in the Actions column, you can edit the event using the edit icon.

Three-Dot Menu

The three-dot menu corresponding to an event lets you:

Preview: View how the event will look on the page.

Copy as Draft: Copy the event to the Drafts folder.

Copy URL: This lets you copy the event URL for sharing.

Export to Excel: Export the event data to a spreadsheet.

Delete: Delete the event. This will unpublish the event from the page as well.

 

Creating an Event

Step 1: To start creating an event, click on ‘Add Event’ at the top right.

Step 2: Fill in the event details in the ‘Create an Event’ section.

Name: The name of the event.

Location: The event location.

Start and End: The start and end date and time of the event.

Recurring Event: If the event is recurring, select this option.

The menu next to this option lets you select the recurrence frequency.

If you select ‘Custom’, you can set a custom recurrence frequency.

You can change this at any time by clicking on the edit icon in the frequency information.

Category: Select the event category.

Description: Add a short description of the event. 

Image: You can add an image for the event by clicking on the event section. This will open up Milestone DAM or you can choose to upload an image here.

Once you have added the details for the event, you can either ‘Create Draft’ or ‘Save & Publish’ the event.
